Susan Durnford
Suzi is a passionate and approachable riding instructor who loves helping riders build confidence, skills, and a genuine connection with their horses. With a calm teaching style and a strong focus on safety, Suzi creates a supportive learning environment where riders of all ages feel encouraged to progress at their own pace. She has experience working with beginner and developing riders, with a special interest in building solid foundations on the flat, improving rider position, and helping students become more balanced, effective, and confident in the saddle. Suzi believes that good riding starts with understanding the horse, and she works hard to make lessons both educational and enjoyable. Known for her patience and positive attitude, Suzi is especially good at helping nervous riders feel comfortable and capable. She understands that every rider learns differently and takes pride in adapting her teaching style to suit each individual. Whether a student is having their very first lesson or refining their basics, Suzi aims to make each session rewarding and fun. Suzi is also committed to horse welfare and believes that kind, consistent horsemanship is an essential part of any rider’s education. She encourages her students to develop not only riding skills, but also confidence in handling, grooming, and caring for their horses. Her lessons focus on creating happy, capable riders who enjoy the process of learning and growing. With her friendly nature, steady guidance, and genuine love of horses, Suzi is a valued part of the riding school team and a trusted instructor for riders looking to build confidence and improve their skills. I can also make it sound more professional, more warm/family-friendly, or more competitive/dressage-focused.
